New Track

(Amsterdam, NL) - Armin van Buuren, the number one DJ in the world… according to DJ Mag and her readers. When I first got into the trance scene I was a big fan of Armin, especially for his radio show A State Of Trance, broadcast on Slam FM (later ID&T Radio) back then. When you grow more and more into the addictive scene called ‘trance music’ feelings fade and you get more mature. But my former ‘idol’ (Armin is the reason I started my own dance radio show) has become one of the most well-known and popular dj’s from around the world. His radio show has become a worldwide hit with more then 1 million listeners every episode, his label Armada Music has grown as a leading record label in the trance business and you simply can’t find a weekend in his schedule that goes without bookings. Except for the last six months, in which he took some massive time off to work on his new artist album, called Imagine. After 76 and 10 Years let’s see what Armin brings us this time…

The album contains eleven track of which only 3 are instrumental tracks. Armin always expressed his love for vocal tracks in his radio show and gigs but on his former two albums it was about half and half… not this time! The album starts of with the title track, Imagine. The track starts with a pretty long intro that we’re used of many trance albums nowadays (A little history lesson, Tiësto started the whole thing with his Magik Journey album on which the first track (Magik Journey) featured one of the most brilliant intro’s ever performed, by Geert Huinink, on a trance album). The intro starts of pretty nice with some atmospheric pads and weird sound effects but soon one of the most ridiculous piano parts I ever heard kicks in. It’s just uncalled for and even off-key! Soon his brother, Eller van Buuren, brings us a heavily distorted guitar pad which sounds even worse together with the piano. After this we get a typical Armin van Buuren trance record, a massive bass-line (this should do really well in a club or dome), some typical trancy percussion lines and some oldschool riffs and melody lines. Pretty average track with one of the worst intro’s I’ve ever heard.
