Celine Dion’s AC/DC Performance Crowned ‘Worst Cover Ever’

July 4th, 2008 by admin

Through the years, Celine Dion has proven her wide range of talent by not only delivering her powerhouse originals, but also by covering hit songs from a multitude of artists. Perhaps the most interesting, though, is her rendition of AC/DC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long,’ which she performed at VH1’s ‘Divas Live’ Las Vegas concert back in 2002.

Alongside fellow “diva” Anastacia, the Canadian chanteuse belted her way through the rock anthem, complete with high-fives and air-guitar shredding. During the song’s suggestive yet classic “American thighs” lyric, Dion even channels her inner Elvis to swing her pelvis with the best of them. The quirky and playful performance received a standing ovation from the roaring crowd, but apparently not everyone seems to be fan.

The editors of ‘Total Guitar,’ Europe’s best-selling guitar magazine, have recently crowned Dion’s song spectacle as “the worst cover ever,” claiming that the performance was a “pathetic attempt to garner rock kudos” and made them “puke all night long.” Ouch!

Check out the performance after the jump and judge for yourself.
