Selena Gomez Starting a Band
August 23rd, 2008 by adminSelena Gomez has the pipes to make it as a solo artist. She dazzled when she sang a remake of the Disney song, “Cruella de Vil.” Selena does not want to be a solo artist, but she does want to sing. Like her rumored boyfriend teen hottie Nick Jonas, the Wizards of Waverly Place star wants to form a band where she will sing, but will also play other instruments. It is assumed Selena is dating Nick after she was featured in Nick’s music video, a picture of the two was released, and they told the same first date story.
The Disney Star (pictured at a UR Votes Count Event in Glendale, CA) wants to show off her multiple talents that don’t even include how great of an actress she is, "I will be singing, and I'm learning drums and playing electric guitar."
She told MTV News, “I'm going to be in a band — no Selena Gomez stuff. I'm not going to be a solo artist. I think that I don't want my name attached to it."
Also like her boyfriend, Selena wants to have a pop/rock feel to her music. But she doesn’t want to copy the styles of her boyfriend or best friend, Demi Lovato (Camp Rock). The Jonas Brothers recently released their new album, which hit number one, A Little Bit Longer and Demi’s debut album is due in September. She said, "You know, the [Jonas] boys and people like Demi [Lovato] are my friends, so I definitely would not copy or do anything that they did."
Of the music she wants to produce, Selena says, "I basically want to make music that is fun and that parents and kids can jump around to and have a good time to."
Besides her plan to produce great music, Selena is the spokeswoman for the national campaign UR Votes Count, which encourages teens to vote by participating in the ultimate mock election.
Hopefully we’ll see Selena and her new band soon. The girl is really talented.
