“Hello Dolly” - Louis Armstrong From The Definitive Collection Download the mp3.  I wouldn't begin to call myself a theatre buff. I performed in a few plays in high school. I worked for a dinner theatre in college where I did everything from run the box office, served as a waiter, ran the light board, and even acted as a corpse in Big River. I love to go to the theatre, but I my knowledge is slight.

Concert Review: Foo Fighters/Jimmy Eat World At American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX

February 20th, 2008 by admin

I’ve become a bit leery of concerts at the big local arena. I’ve missed some great shows that have come through town because I didn’t want to be disappointed with nosebleed seats, bad sound, and really expensive merchandise. Over the years, I’ve just grown accustomed to the smaller, intimate venues for a more personal show.

Would one of the biggest rock bands in the land make me change my mind?

N.E.R.D. Plan Pre-Kanye Shows image
The untold story of Kanye’s "Glow in the Dark" tour– aside from the nice looking lineup– is the re-emergence of N.E.R.D., the Neptunes’ rock trio. To add to the reunited good vibes, Pharrell, Chad Hugo, and pal Shay Haley will prove they can stand on their own six feet with a month of headlining shows before joining up with Kanye, Lupe, and Rihanna. The freshly minted tour fills out the group’s March schedule, includes multiple performances at SXSW, and wraps up in Alabama.

Liam Gallagher's Nuptial Oasis (E! Online) image
The Oasis frontman tied the knot on Valentine's Day with his longtime gal-pal and former All Saints singer Nicole Appleton, per British media reports. The duo, who have been together eight years, swapped vows in a civil ceremony at London's Westminster Registry Office, which, as it happens, is the same venue where Gallagher married his first wife, actress Patsy Kensit, in 1997.

Quickies: Akoya Afrobeat, Joe Jackson, Herbie Hancock image
Most of this go around of Quickies is about catching up on some of the more recent big name releases. Spending so much time off the main highway of current music, I sometimes need to get back on it to regain a sense of where the mainstream is to begin with. Well, "mainstream" from the perspective of the middle-aged, anyway. And as I am often reminded, the mainstream still has interesting and worthwhile music to offer.

Lou Reed, David Byrne, Antony Play Iraq Peace Benefit image
With Blonde Redhead, Scissor Sisters, Laurie Anderson, Moby, Norah Jones Believe it or not, there are still some folks out there who don’t think the decision to invade Iraq was such a good one! Relegated to the outskirts of society, these rabid peaceniks have seen zero representation for their way of thinking in any of the major political parties or their respective pundits. And for good reason, since the Iraq war is going so splendidly.

February 14th, 2008 by admin

Alicia Keys “dueted” with a vintage performance by Frank Sinatra of “Learnin’ the Blues” to kick off the 50th annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but the real magic came from leading nominees Amy Winehouse and Kanye West.
