Frontman Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill, the only current original members, will be joined by drummer Brian McGee, bassist Derek Forbes, and keyboardist Mick McNeil, who all split in the 1980s. (Forbes returned in 1997-1998.) Kerr and Burchill said on the site (http://www.simpleminds.com) that they viewed the reunion as a "nice experiment.

Flotsam & Jetsam has been largely an unknown quantity in my musical life. Cuatro was my introduction way back in 1993, now, in 2008, I have been able to sample the albums immediately before and after that landmark release. Hearing these neighboring albums has created an interesting timeline for the band and the development of their music. Listening to all three in succession quickly reveals a band in a state of flux.

The Streets played their first UK show in over a year last night (May 26) as they headlined the Newcastle-Gateshead Evolution Festival. Playing on the banks of the River Tyne, a buoyant Mike Skinner pogoed his way through a storming greatest hits set punctuated with good-natured banter. Notable highlights of the hour-long set included a brash, energetic run through 2002 single ‘Don’t Mug Yourself’ and a crowd-pleasing cover of The Prodigy’s classic ‘Out Of Space’.

German director Uwe Boll is customarily described as the world’s worst filmmaker. I don’t know if this is true — it’s a big world, after all. But with the release of “Postal,” he stakes a strong claim to being the world’s most offensive. I mean that in a good way.
“Postal” is a foul and horrifying movie, a classic of its kind. I laughed pretty much non-stop through the first hour or so (unfortunately, the picture runs nearly two hours), cringing in shame and yet cackling helplessly nevertheless.

(The VH1 Blog knows very little about the law. So we’ve solicited Mark Muro, a founder of the California law firm Muro & Lampe, Inc., to keep a running tab on which side has the advantage in the R. Kelly child pornography trial. Check back daily for updates.) Today, the prosecution continued its attempts to unravel the defense claims of mistaken identities. Yet another former friend and classmate of the alleged victim identified her as the girl in the sex tape.

A certain irony exists in criticizing the quality of someone’s voice when that person is singing the songs of Tom Waits, whose gruff howls make one imagine Cookie Monster suffering from chronic emphysema. Nevertheless, Scarlett Johansson sounds downright abysmal on her debut album – a set of ten Waits compositions and one original – entitled, Anywhere I Lay My Head.
Whirring in a low, invariable drone, Johansson conveys a detachment that renders her timid at best and, at worst, lifeless.
